Pop Crochet: The Joker, Heath Ledger version
Watched The Dark Knight last week, and it was BRILLIANT. Now THAT’s how comic book – movie adaptations ought to be made. All we need is maybe for Kevin Conroy to dub over Christian Bale’s “Batman” voice, and I’d think everything would be perfect.
Specifically, the late Heath Ledger was amazing, especially because I’m a big fan of the Dark Knight Returns and Killing Joke graphic novels, and he got the Joker down perfect. I think this marks the first time the villain actually overshadows the superhero in every scene he comes into. Posthumous Best Supporting Actor awards? There better be.
And because he was awesome – and because I was inspired to and also because I’ve had some mails from fellow fans asking if I could – here’s a little Joker doll, made after Heath Ledger’s version.

Small differences from my earlier depiction of the Joker; aside from the obvious hair color and style change, a black necktie in place of a flower, and I’ve added very faint black markings around his face to keep with his eye mascara effect. I didn’t like the result of going full out black with the eye mascara, so lightened it a little, just enough to show.
Sigh. I think we all are going to miss him.
Am in the process of adding little Heath to my shop for sale, as some people have already expressed some willingness to buy him – but for now, what do you guys think?
