Pop Crochet: Metroid Dolls

I’m back! And I come bearing gifts!

Well, photos are still being processed, so I’ll post bits and pieces at a time of my Palawan trip. (which was rad, by the way. I’m as red as a lobster, and I ate a couple too. Also kissed a crocodile, but that’s another story.) So, here’s some more custom orders for special buyers that I made before I left!

I haven’t really played much of Metroid despite my self-proclaimed girl gamer status, sadly. I’ve played several levels of the first game, and then another game where Samus carries a little baby alien around, but haven’t managed to finish any, because I am more at home with a joystick control than I am with a keyboard when it comes to retro gaming, and besides I totally made up for it by finishing Super Mario 2 about ten times, and with all characters available.

So, this one took me awhile to figure out how to do, but was also one of those dolls that didn’t look quite what I had expected it to look when I first started out, but eventually realized it came out how I expected it to all along once I’d added in most of the finishing touches.

First – the Metroid Varia suit version dolls! Faintly a remnant of Super Smash Brothers; if I’m not using Samus to pound either Mario or Link (my cousin’s favorite weapon of choice) into the ground, I’m using Solid Snake to snipe the heck out of everyone else.

And of course, you can’t have Metroid without introducing the little Metroid aliens into play, along with Samus’ special Metroid ball manuever. I tried so hard not to make it look like an orange pokeball, given a lot of the art was simple enough so as not to give too much details and… well, it’s orange.

A custom order from someone who specifically requested for these dolls, so I suppose you can consider them OOAK / One Of A Kinds?
